AOB1 Develop Ideas & look at stuff

This is my Influence map
This includes pictures of artists work that have inspired me & I have numbered them so when you look down the bottom you can see the artist's name that I have been inspired by.

Animal Photographs

I have taken some photographs of Animals to help me with drawing my characters for my children's storybook "Friend Wanted" I found this a good way of helping me as it allowed me to have my own version of research other than just photos on servers like Google & Flickr.

As you can see some of the photos I have taken are of soft toys I did this as I felt it showed the animals in a kind of Cartoon like style which a real animal doesn't show, but link the two versions together & I can create a nice style which helps me with drawing the characters.

Above are photographs that I have taken for research into animals these are to help me when drawing my animals for my children's storybook.

My Book for kids
Front Cover Idea.

I did this an Idea my story is about a monkey who has no friends so I need a monkey on the front page of my book & my plan is for the monkey to look as like sad & worried how he should be. I have added the smirk like smile which links a bit to happy & sad, I can't really decide whether the Monkey needs to have a sad face or not I feel that this is the kind of design I will use, as I feel it draws everyone, my audience into him as the close up makes you look at the eyes so you get a bit of a feel for the story. I really like this kind of text for the title Friend Wanted as it reminds me a bit of a gate the sense of being trapped & alone which is how Banana the main character monkey is feeling.

Rabbit start of drawings

These are some rabbits I draw these with a pencil, they are what I started of by doing just experimenting with drawing animals before I wrote my story up. I feel very impressed with this drawing but I feel that it isn't really child like friendly well it is but not what I wanted I feel that I need a rabbit with a bit more of a cartoon like effect which would relate to my child audience.

Faces & ducks Ideas

This are a few more of my plans that I have drawn with a pencil that I am not going to use in my story as they aren't what I wont but I really do like them. My favorite is the duck as it really has that like child cartoon effect that I wanted by I don't think I will have a duck in my story.

Rabbit with Giraffe print
I really like the idea of having animals that look strange. This rabbit has a giraffe print on it which I feel makes for a very creative drawing of such strange ways.

Detailed animal drawings

Though I love these drawings that I drew with a pencil but they are way to detailed for kids stories as they might frighten the young kids audience that my story book will attract.

Little drawings of lots of animal ideas

These are all of my little character drawings that I have drawn for my story book but I feel that they are just right they are the kind of animals I would love to use as they are a cartoon like style which I would like to use in my storie book.

Hi Sammy,
Some excellent insightful ideas for your book here. The drawings are very good indeed, and i like the way that you have mixed close ups of toys with reall animals, very interesting!
